Evan your Landcruiser looks very stock, how did you get your hands on it?

A bloke from Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs was looking to part ways with it. It was just as the troopy market was starting to take off pre-Covid. I got pretty lucky. As soon as I saw it I knew it would be a great platform to build from but wanted to keep the look of it being stock.

Tell us a bit about what you have done to the troopy since owning it.

Firstly, I’ve done a full respray in the original colour from 1990, midnight blue. Then started the fit-out in the back and sound deadened the whole car. Buying the car stock I have taken my time deciding how I’m going to create my rear setup, which I am working on now with pull out drawer and bed frame

Do you have any future plans for the troopy?

I definitely will be finishing the rear fit-out when it cools down a bit - it’s like an oven working in there during the Summer. I also want to look into getting windows tinted and maybe a snorkel - but not sold on either of these. Sometimes I feel like it would be crazy to attach more gear to such a nice stock troopy. I’ll also look at a 12v system soon.

Troopys are hot property, what advice would you give to someone looking for a second hand troopy?

Definitely do your research so you know the problem areas, especially known rust areas and check them out before you buy it. Most site-unseen troopy purchases don’t work out. Also if your are not mechanically minded get your mechanic to check it out prior to purchase!
