Artefact Motor Company

Artefact Motor Company is a restoration shop set in the heart of Sydney, Australia.

Tucked away in the depths of an old Wool Store on the fringe of the CBD built in the

1890’s, Artefact specialises in the procurement, preservation and restoration of air-

cooled Porsche and leaf-sprung Land Rover’s. With our main focus being on the Land

Rover’s and Porsche, our day in day out work is restoring these vehicles to the highest

quality possible.

The shop is proud to offer to our clients both 100-point, concourse restoration but also

the opportunity to create a uniquely tailored vehicle to your specifications. We are

currently in the midst of launching our bespoke Series Land Rover specification that has

been in the development stages for a few years. The car is a uniquely cosmopolitan

affair with motor’s and differentials designed in the United Kingdom, rare parts and

custom disc brake kits manufactured in the United States with it all being brought

together here in Australia. We hope to share some more of these vehicles here in the

future with 3 build slots currently progressing.

No job is too big or too small with multiple Porsche 911’s and 356’s coming and going

for a myriad of jobs. Some of the more current complete restorations of important

vehicles such a a light yellow 1972 Porsche 911S, a Minvera Blue 1976 Porsche 911 3.0L

Carrera Targa and a special order Lemon Yellow 1967 Porsche 912 to rust repairs on a

1970 911T and the ongoing maintenance the collection of some of the most important

Porsche in the country has allowed us to develop a plethora of source material and

knowledge drawn from the access to these cars.

Aside from several Land Rover’s that we are building in what we call our “Artefactual

Evidence” specification, on the books at the moment is a 1975 FJ40 Land Cruiser that is

being brought back to a more original appearance albeit with many modifications and

improvements concealed to improve the drive ability for the use-case of the vehicle.

There are also several other interesting English cars including a late production MOKE

Californian ‘1275’ that has been restored to an OEM+ specification and an ex-hill climb

Jaguar Mk2 race car sporting full coilover suspension and a built 4.2l XK motor.

We strive to give our clients an enjoyable experience and to bring them along for the ride

because if not, then why embark on such an endeavour at all! We are passionate about

our product and feel that spreading that passion is the pivotal part of the entire

restoration journey.

Give us a yell and come check out our workshop, we would love to discuss your next

restoration project over a coffee, tea, or even a whisky!
