Hey Jimmy, we love your 77 Series. Obviously these were not delivered in Australia… how did you get your hands on it?

Well I was in Japan working as a snowboard instructor on the north island, Hokkaido and a local had a silver 77 and I thought it was the best thing I had ever seen, so I did a bit of research and asking around. I was put on to this very nice bloke named Dave who had been in the USA for the past 30 years importing classic cars and recently moved back to Japan. I was invited to his office in Tokyo and from there we had all auctions sits covered finding the best 77 for me. It was the day before I left Japan that he found this one for me and it was perfect! It only took 3 and half weeks from the day I purchased it, to the day it arrived in Australia.

Do you think you will have a hard time finding parts for it in Australia?

Well I have already had some amazing people in Japan that have sourced different parts and accessories for me, which I’m very grateful for and has also been a blessing. But mechanically it has the same gear box and engine as the usual 75 series 1hz and 5 speeds. So I don’t think I will have a drama finding parts for it.

What are your future plans with the 77 Series?

Definitely want to put some more accessories on it for camping and long distance driving. I will be making a frame for a bed and fridge in the back. Before this I had a fully restored FJ45 Troopcarrier  and a HJ61 12HT wagon and by far this has been my favourite car, as well as my forever car. It’s an amazing feeling to drive especially with the Recaro suspension seating up front. The next trip I have planned will be from the Sunshine Coast to Tasmania for a bit of adventure with a little stop in Melbourne. I would also love to do a trip to the red centre, Uluru.
